Plastixin
Plastixin is an edge cleaner which will not leave behind an oily residue. It is an essential addition to any gauge since it is ideal for removing debris on the edges of tools which are not visible to the naked eye, but can be seen through the camera on your pre-setter and may affect the measurement.
The smallest amount of fluff or dirt on a tool can affect your end product. Get a small ball of Plastixin, dab it on the edge to clean it and then continue gauging.

Tool Before
This tool is not very clean. It has particles on the cutting edges which will give erroneous measurements when placed in a pre-setter. The magnification provided by the pre-setter shows that the tools edges look lumpy and uneven The fluff and other debris on the tool is not visible to the human eye, but can mean the difference between it cutting a part which is within tolerance and one which is not. Touching tool edges with almost anything can leave some unwanted detritus behind. |

Using Plastixin
In appearance, Plastixin looks like green Blu Tack, but without the residue. Simply get a small ball amount of Plastixin and dab it on the tool to remove any dirt, fluff, small hairs and other unwanted dust. Plastixin is reuseable. Stretch and reform it in a similar way that you would with plasticine to remove the refuse. |

Tool After
After the Plastixin has been dabbed onto the tool, it is now clean. The screen shows nice straight edges. The sharp cutting edges can now be accurately gauged and will produce a far higher quality product with a reduced chance of failure. A clean tool will have a longer life, cut nicely and will reduce maintenance requirements on your production line. |
